Measures global irradiance (W/m²) directly at string level. The pyranometer connects via RS485 directly to the Gateway — or to the DC line via MC4 connectors, transmitting to the String Reader through our patented PLC communication over the existing DC cables. Irradiance measured at the string, not at a distant weather station, gives the most accurate local reference. Essential for TrueSTC calculations, Performance Ratio validation, and precise correlation between conditions and module performance.
Five Class A PT100 temperature sensors bonded to five measurement points across the backsheet of one reference module. Temperature is not uniform — cell temperature can vary significantly between center and edges, between shaded and unshaded areas. Five measurement points reveal the full thermal profile. The five sensors communicate via RS485, with a connector to Modbus — or from there onto the DC line via MC4 connectors, transmitting through our patented PLC communication over the existing DC cables. Critical for accurate TrueSTC calibration and for detecting thermal anomalies single-point sensors would miss entirely.
A Digital Signal Processor board that plugs into the dedicated slot built into every String Reader. Filters inverter switching noise from PLC signals — essential in plants with large central inverters where electrical interference can reduce PLC communication reliability. Not required for standard string inverter installations. Every String Reader ships with the DSP slot ready — the board is an optional addition ordered separately.
A clamp-on data pickup for PV string cables. The String Claw clips around the string cable next to the inverter and reads the module-level data transmitted over the PV cable — module voltage and module temperature — without opening or disconnecting anything. It plugs straight into a USB port of the X-String Reader: clamp, plug, done. String current is not measured by the claw; current data is taken from the inverter and combined with the module data in the Gateway.
Every accessory connects via PLC. No extra wiring. No separate data network.
